Bush Elephant

Loxodonta Africana:
Largest land animals and wide spread, their weight varies from 2500 till 6000 kg and you can find him in all major vegetatoin types. They consume about 5% of their body weight a day (grass, young trees, bushes, bark,…). Elephants are thought to live no longer than 65 years.

SPOTTED HYAENA

Crocuta Crocuta:
Very common and wide spread dog like carnivore. They can weight up to 90 kg. You can find them mostly in non forested areas, like open savannas, dry steppes and grasslands. They are opportunistic hunters, but they also scavenge.

KOB ANTELOPES

Kobus kob:
Medium sized antelopes which you find from Senegal to W. Ethiopia to Lake Victoria. They can weight up to 121 kg. and eat most common grasses.

DWARF CROCODILES

The dwarf crocodile is one of the smallest crocodile of the African species.
You can find them in rivers and pools around the continent.
Some of them are habituated to humans, but don't forget, they are wild animals and they like meat.

WHITE RHINO

Ceratotherium simum:
The White Rhino is the largest species of land mammal after the elephant.You can find the white rhinos spread around the African continent and mainly in reserved areas.
In the southern part of Africa you can still find them in the large game parks(Ethosa, Kruger, Hwange National Park, etc..)
Weight:1,800 - 2,700 kg
Height:1.5 - 1.8 m tall at shoulder
Length:3.8-5m length of head and body

WESTERN LOWLAND GORILLA

Gorilla gorilla gorilla:
The western lowland gorilla is the most numerous and widespread of the gorilla species, with a population size of approximately 90000. They can weight up to 210 kg. You can find them in tropical rainforests and they prefere old clearings and bais where they can find food as herbaceous growth and minerals.

PANTHERA LEO:
are the largest of all cats in Africa(west,central,east and south).
You can find lions formerly at most altitudes and in all vegetation types.
Except at the driest desserts and closed rainforests.
Ranging in colour from nearly white to deep ochre-brown.
Weight:125kg-260kg.
Social/opportunistic predators.

VERVET Monkey

Cercopithecus aethiops:
Is wide spread and common all over the African continent.
It can be found from the southern Sahara to the whole southern part of the Africa.
It prefers savannas, riverside woodlands and mountains till 3600 m.
You don't find them in the driest desserts and rainforests.
Weight male: 3,5 to 7,5 Kg.
Weight female: 2,5 to 5,5 Kg.
Length without tail. Male: 45 to 85 cm. Female 40 to 60 cm.
Length of the tail: 50 to 115 cm.
They're omnivorous, but mainly vegetarian (grass, fruits, flowers, leaves, gum and seeds).
