The thing about Boston, is that it is a beautiful city rich in heritage and the heart of all things American. Whether you're having a beer at the original Cheers bar that was the inspiration for the hit t.v. series, or walking the streets of the Freedom Trail, Boston would be a perfect vacationing spot - if it wasn't for the traffic.

I would not recommend visiting Boston if you're not a big fan of driving, even if you're well experienced. At a fraction of the population size of Toronto, the driving is intense and maddening. If you are in good enough physical shape for walking - do it. If you're looking for a laid-back, quiet vacation downtown Boston is not your city.

Boston Essentials:

- Comfy walking shoes
- Advil or other headache medicine
- The most up to date, detailed map of the city you can find
- Change (for the subway system)
- A Camera and film
- An incredible amount of patience

Boston is a city of surprises. The things I thought I'd be bored at, turned out to be the most interesting things such as Fenway Park and the JFK Museum and Library. If you let Boston in - she'll steal your heart.
