I've been fortunate to have lived in various parts of the U.S. which has allowed me to travel to most of America. The below right now is more of chronology of things and less so on travel tips. Over time, I plan to add some links and more information as well. On the map I've started to note various things so that if one is traveling in a particular area they might see something nearby to further investigate. For example, in Vermillion. SD there is the National Music Museum. Many folks who visit Mount Rushmore would seemingly drive right by this museum. |
| Horseshoe Falls - Niagara |
| | The Early Years 1967-1986 I grew up in Upstate, NY and the furthest in any direction that we traveled was about 4-5 hours and included Boston, Quebec, Niagara Falls, and Hershey Park in Pennsylvania.
One thing I've observed in my travels is that there are Local, Regional and National attractions; and that due to both time and cost constraints most perhaps will travel locally in their region to events and attractions that may not be of "national" reknown, though for the cost and time investment are great weekend escapes. On VT, the most popular places written about are the National attractions; however many local places do have things of interest.
In light of the above, in terms of major attractions, there really wasn't too much around this area. Yes, Niagara Falls was just down the road, though honestly I do not consider it a must-visit. However, there are many great local things to do in this region including the Adirondancks and Fingerlake regions. There are plenty of events and festivals throughout the year including a State Fair, Balloon Fests, Ethnic Festivals, Music Festivals, etc. |
College Years 1986-1990 During college which was also in Upstate, NY, I interned with a company in Texas and so on four occasions had the opportunity to travel between Texas and New York. Each time I traveled a slightly different way and so was able to see many Eastern cities and places of interest.
My favorite city was easily Washington D.C. | | | Notes to Elvis Outside of Graceland |

| | Texas 1991-1996 After college, I began to work in Dallas. This served as a base for travels within Texas and around the Southwest. During this time I made a trip to Europe and also Japan, the latter being a business-related trip. |
Arizona 1997-2000 In 1997, I moved to Phoenix. I never realized it was so close to the West Coast, and so I made many trips to San Diego, Los Angeles, and also a trip up to Salt Lake City for the NBA Final in 1998. Several relatives visited and so there were a bunch of trips from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon which is just 3 hours away. | | | Cactus, and Plenty of Them! |
|
| Gehri Building at Case Western University |
| | Midwest 2000-2001 In 2000, I decided to go for a Master's and so moved to Cleveland for two years. Didn't really do too much traveling in the states, though was fortunate to land an internship over in Budapest. |
New England 2001 to the Present I am now in Boston which has been a great place so far from which to travel. I love living near the coast! | | | Surf's Up - Nantucket Island |
