At personal invitation of irisbe I went to Antwerp for a great and stormy weekend to enjoy a number of local bars and more.

The pubcrawl started at the Grote Markt in Den Engel. Already at 5PM Danielle was waiting for me. Around 6 Vera and Alain had joined the party and we went to the Frietkot opposite the square to get a basic Antwerp Supper.
Back we went to Den Engel where around 8 all heads were counted for.
Off we went into a stormy night!
First we went to the oldest bar in town at the Moriaanstraat.
Johnny started his first dirty songs and Vera toilet-trained the ladies with her whistle.
I had trouble reading reading the bar's flyer and this was only our second stop!
I have little memory of the next bar, the Pelikaan. It even isn't listed in the phonebook, so I have my doubts.
In any case, somewhere at the Melkmarkt we stopped again for some refreshments.
I have some memory of a song about Harry, ready for a sex-change and another song about the "good" qualities of woman.
As you may have noticed, we all had funny hats giving some of the people problems once outside. It was a stormy evening and irisbe had promised us a visit to the leftbank of the Schelde (by boat?).
I took a picture of Gonnie, but she complained she was to pale. So I called in her sunny sister.
Tom demonstrated the usage of a Belgium umbrella with head wind.

Pieter, Antwerp seems like a very accessible place. Your transport tips are top notch!
Ha ha ha, zoals ze hier in Antwerpen zeggen:" 'k lig plat van 't lachen". Je A'pen tips vind ik maar zo zo (uitz. Veronica- chauvinisme?), maar je intro is meesterlijk! Ps. thx voor bezoek aan mijn Utrecht page.
this picture comes from the well known shop Geretti on the Vestingstraat,they have very nice jewelery and are very serious dealers , we did buy our engagement and wedding rings in this shop www.diamondstowear.be very nice webpage have fun shopping

Oh PJ, just caught up with yout travelogue... it's wonderful. Sorry I've been so absent since then, but nothing... NOTHING... can take away from the pleasure of that evening in Antwerpen.
