| | New faces It was nice to meet some new faces.
Especially Sonja from Zwitserland, who spend a part of the afternoon with my wife and son to do some altenative Amsterdam exploration. |
| | Canal Boat Tour We gathered at the Noord- Zuid Hoolands Koffiehuis opposite the Central Train Station. From there we took off for a canal boat tour of a hour.
Hereafter we headed for the Chinese quarter (Zeedijk) and a walk through the Red Light District.
The group split up to do some different tours. |
| | Sailing the Herengracht Some more info about the canal boat tour:
We sailed with Rederij Plas from the Damrak terminal. From there we sailed pass the Koffiehuis where the meeting started into the Oosterdok.
At the Scheepvaartshuis the boat took a right into the Oude Schans en Zwanenburgwal.
With the City Hall (Stopera) at our left we entered the Amstel river and went under the Blauwbrug.
After a glimps at the Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) we went into the Herengracht.
We completed the half circel shaped canal to end up into the Brouwersgracht and had to manoeuvre into the Singel to pass the Central Station at the West side.
Into the IJ we went and with the strong winds, the ship was rocking a little bit.
We returned to the terminal via the East side of the station. |
| | Floating Flower Market The alternative tour we took led us to the Waterlooplein fleamarket, the Munt Tower and the adjacent Floating Flower Market.
Via the Spui and the Kalversatraat shopping street we went to our final meeting place: the Rembrandts plein. |

| | Supper time Here we are at restaurant De Kroon were we had a fantastic meal, organised by el_holandes (his brother is one of the cooks at the restaurant). |

I loved the tulip museum, the owner was so helpful and knowledgable. He picked bulbs and colours out for us and was happy to chat for ages. I stayed for ages and bought loads!!! |
