a travel in old russian traditions After our days in Moscow, we started a one-week trip in "Golden Ring" by many buses. The "golden ring" includes some old russian towns in north-east country from Moscow. We have been in Vladimir, Suzdal, Nizhniy Novgorod, Kostromà, Jaroslav, Rostov. Do this trip if you like to discover more the Russian life-style out of the big cities. You can visit many old churchs and monasteries; i think this is not a trip for young people; it's a little bit boring to see so many religious places and nothing else. In my group everyone did'nt like a one-week trip in this area; it is better to visit for example Sergiyev Posad, just 70 km from Moscow, if you want to have an idea of what "Golden Ring" is. |
| | this are the typical buses and cars that you will find while you are travelling inRussia; even the roads are not so good; forget the typical highways!!!! |
this was a little village we found during our trip on Volga River (7 hours from Nizhniy Novgorod to Kostromà). Small shops, a little market and an old church.
| Kostromà monastery on the river |
| | this was one of the best monasteries we found in Golden ring; it's very famous in Russia and there are many tourists who come here; outside there are many russians who sell linen table-cloths, typical of these countries. |
I was very surprised to see so many married couples walking around the city with their parents and friends; in Italy we have a party at the restaurant after the marriage but in Russia is typical to go to some famous places in your city; we were in Nizhniy Novgorod; many coples came to this square leaving some flowers at the unknown soldier monumet; it was a funny moment to see so many people happy in the same place!
| | i took this photo from a boat trip on Volga river; look at this great sky!!! during our Volga trip the sky was changing many times and it was really interesting to see it! |
Rostov is a small town not far from Jaroslav; there is nothing interestin but this old monastery where you can also sleep inside: there is a guest-house inside.
| | This town is close to Moscow; it takes just 1 hour to reach it. This was the best place i have seen in "Golden ring" trip. There is a big monastery and some churches around it; this place is very famous in Russia; there are many russian pilgrims coming here. |
