VT meetings is a good way to know the local people.... My first in Singapore was held at Marche Restaurant in Suntec.... VT meetings in Singapore are normally arranged thru the good organisation skills of Sha (Sha_stallion)... Fizah (Traps) came up with the slogan "Chill Out" (in Singapore) for our VT meeting... and it was enthusistically endorsed by fellow VTers...

My first VT meeting in Singapore was on October 10, 2003....This meeting was to be a meeting between Sha (Sha_stallion) with Diny (Diny) who was visiting Singapore from Ames (USA).... As the words went around, it developed into a full scale VT meeting with some 14 Vters attending the fellowship...

The dinner was good and the companionship was fantastic despite having met each other for the first time.... there were small talks getting to each other better as well as more serious discussions (such as the singapore night scene)... Everybody enjoyed themselves (I hope, at least I do) and looked forward to the next part of the night's programme..

Following dinner, the group splitted into two - those young and energetic went to celecbrate Oktoberfest at Paulaner Brauhaus and (then) to Zouk Disco, for some aerobic exercise... The other group (as shown in picture), adjoined to Starbucks for coffee (with my compliments) and further getting to know you batter... Before we know, it is time to part, and I managed to take the last MRT back to my Singapore abode in Khatib...

On the whole, it was a very very good outing and VT meeting...

The second (mini) VT meeting was on February 5, 2004 at Lau Pa Sat... There was 6 of us with Juraidah bringing 3 of her friends/colleagues... one of whom (Kevin) joined VT subsequently as Pepeng.... It was a good satay dinner and a good gathering to talk about travel and catch up with what has happened since the last VT meeting...

As it was still Chinese New Year, each VTer was given an "ang pow" for good luck in the new Monkey year... the meeting is also to wish Clarice "bon voyage" as she leaves for Melbourne for further studies the following week... Clarice, we will se you again, either in Singapore or Melbourne

Met up for coffee with Lina (A2002) and her husband, Terence

As I was rushing to the airport in the evening, it was most gracious of Lina to rush over to meet me for a cup of coffee... while she and Terence had their lunch... we have to meet half way.... where else but the convenience of cafes along the MRT route at the cafe cartel at Raffles City... We have some good exchange of self, and travel.... This well travelled "doctor"-to-be and her better half are both easy going and friendly.... It is a pleasure meeting you & Terence and I know we will meet again, this time with more time to exchange views etc, etc, etc...

I met up with Bee Koon (Bkoon) and Lina (again) at the Food Junction at Raffles City on March 1... for coffee again as I have a dinner appointment.... it was the first time I met Bee Koon ... a good conversationalist, she was all exicted about going to Sabah at the end of March.... enjoy your trip there, as Sabah has a lot to offer visitors...

On April 16, Nim, Neng, Jeab and Ple stopped over in Singapore on their way back to Bangkok from Bali... Arrangement was made to meet up in Singapore... The fellowship started with a visit to Boat Quay and then the Asian Civiliazation Museum at Empress Place.. then it is dinner at Long Beach Seafood Restaurant at East Coast Park... Travel stories were exchanged between the food dishes... Following dinner, we had a drink at a seaside joint along the East Coast Park beach, with serenading music and the gentle breeze... It was a great day outing and a perfect night... As all good things must come to an end... we said our goodbyes and hope to meet up again soon... in Bangkok, KLumpur, Singapore or anywhere else......

We met up with Emie from Kuala Lumpur at Lau Pa Sat on May 19...

Following dinner, the Spore Vters went back as they have to work the following day, me and Emie ended up in Starbucks (at Raffles City) while she was trying to kill time while waiting for her US friend to come thru Changi Airport at the unearthly hour of 1:30am... We had a good time talking about travelling and everything in general... Imagine we need to meet up in Spore and spend time together (although both of us are from KLumpur)... Emie is on her way to Bali and Melbourne...

As Laura is in town, Cheryl organized a VT meeting for her on May 20...

We had dinner at Picnic, the food court at the basement of the Scotts Shopping Centre.... Dinner was good and the fellowship was fantastic, to say the least... Everybody enjoyed themselves getting to know each other, while for those who have met before.. it is time to exchange the latest stories on travel and everything...

The next part of the program is for drinks at the Bar None at the basement of the Marriot Hotel next door... while Fazahar, Fizah and Sha excused themselves, Chris (Cheryl's husband) joined us for the entertainment by the live band ENERGY... The music and singing was good (but a bit too loud for me)... and I left after listening to a few numbers... while the rest continued... I don't know at what time they too call it a day... for to-morrow is a working day again...

The July month meeting had the largest turnout of Vters and friends that I have attended... Held at the Marche@Suntec... there were old and new faces at the meeting... Special welcome to Ruhul (India), Spela and Saso (Slovenia) from overseas... with so many varieties of food to choose from, it was certainly a hard choice for most of those who were present... Those who could not make it to Marche for various reasons after commiting to attend were Caroline and Heartache... maybe the next time around... Besides partaking the nice food, everyone were busy reminicing old times or making new acquaintances... It was certainly a night to remember...

The party did not end after the dinner... the group now splitted into 2 with the clubbers leaving for bar hopping... the other more sober group including me, opted to continue the fellowship with coffee at the nearby Olio Dome Coffee Bar... with the nice coffee (other drinks were served as well for non-coffee drinkers), time passed too fast and we had to call it a night and left at about 1:30am...
