Taos Ski Valley

by aussiedoug - last update: Mar 11, 2004

This is what you skiiers look forward to!

Trail Map, Nearly All of It.
This is most of the trail map from our visit in January 1995. We'll see how clearly it comes out as the main picture.
Me at Taos Ski Valley

Me in the Village

Yep, nothing fancy to explain here. Liked the Spanish guy on his horse in his finery so el touristo just had to have his photo taken in front of it!
Reassuring Sign! You need It!

Don't Panic Sign

The lovely reassuring sign that tells you that Taos Ski Valley does indeed have many runs that you, the mere mortal just like me, can ski without risking limb or life! LOL!
Never Look Back!

This is a Scary Sight!

Yep, looking back down "Al's Run" when half way up the chairlift!

Thank goodness you don't have to ski back down this run to get back to the lodge!
Al's Again a bit farther back

"Al's Run" Again from a bit Farther Back!

Just just to put it into perspective dear reader!!!!!!

Mind you, it doesn't look as steep from back here as it does when you're standing right next to the "Don't Panic" sign or riding up the chairlift. that's when you should keep in mind the old adage........,
"Never look back"!!!!!!
Kachinas Peak Experts Only!

Now We Get to the Really Tricky Stuff!

Rules this little brown duck out!

Here we get to the real tricky stuff and you have to be darned fit just to hike up there with full ski gear and lugging skis too. And that's before you get to ski down the double black diamond trails to get back to what I like....., the nice groomed, even stuff.

Wish I was good enough, not to mention fit enough to ski this, but it's never going to happen!

Thank you for the great trip around Taos Doug. The only way that I will go skiing now will be if I'm asleep-ha, ha. Mind you it does look like a fascinating pastime but just not my cup of tea any more. The hotel looks great to me too.

I'm ready to visit Taos. Been thinking about it for a long time. You've peaked my interest even more. Painted drums, huh? Think I could dig it.
