Very rare medieaval architecture in Portugal. Between 1503 and 150 this church was not known has Igreja da Boa Nova but from St. Maria de Terena. Old legends tell this church was built by the order of The Queen of Castela, D. Maria, wife of Afonso XI, and daughter of D.Afonso IV "O Bravo" (The Brave). This was built here because she was told a very good news in the place. The news that she would get military help which was before denied in Evora royal council. |
