VT Staff Giampiero made a trip to NZ summer 2004. | Taking time to smell the country air... |
Our country hosted the GMan this summer and he got up to some antics, I'll try to write about some of them.
Finally Giampiero met his match. One BIG steer called Pta, affectionately know as Peter. With his calming nature, Peter is deceiving, big, powerful and heavy! Mention hamburger within 10 kms of him, and his eyes get wild and he begins to snort. Best tact is to approach with offerings of candy or maize leaves. Then he likes a scratch, right between the shoulder blades, to really befriend him. Stephanie drew the line at that though, and didn't get too close. Now Gman, he was another story!
|
Surf's Up!! Word got around town that Vin Diesel was on the beach, some kids had heard him speaking! We could only find Gman. Do you suppose....... |
Life Saving or Surf Rescue? He was seen frequently at the beach, this time with the life savers and Surf Rescue. Just not sure who was being rescued!! |
Life's a Breeze at the Beach... VT Member "allikat" came to visit to meet King G. She was honoured by joining us in his mother's recipe of Spaghetti - good timing Alli!! Not too many luxuries at the beach, but who needs it when the food, wine and company are top class. Very pleasant day and evening with lots of chatter about the world, VT and travelling. |
Took him Kayaking not too far from home. Not so far from home we went and hired some kayaks and went venturing one morning. Really nice and calm even though it was overcast and threatening rain. Lake Karapiro is a dammed lake, and you can row up into some rivers to the waterfalls, really nice!! No crocodiles or creatures to worry about down here in Kiwiland. |
That Funky little Café called Workmans. No visit to Matamata is complete without a meal at Workmans Café. So GMan's trip was no exception as the photo show. Only a select small group of VTers have experience this privilege and only those few can know how it is. I like to dine here as often as I can, as there is never a dull moment, especially when owner/chef Syd is on the job. The cool dude is mah boy!! :-) |

glasgowmogal Thu Jul 24, 2008 15:42 UTC Can't wait til we visit your amazing country. Only have 2 weeks, so will be exploring the South Island, possibly with Off Beat tours...has anyone ever used them? | stevek7 Mon Apr 7, 2008 03:53 UTC Regarding Ace Rental. Arrived at our pick-up location, advised that the car would have to be returned to that location and not as we had booked. resulting in forfeiting our prepaid flight to Auckland. I would never deal with Ace. Stay with Avis,Budget, etc. | craic Sun Mar 23, 2008 16:22 UTC what a lovely page - i am all prepared to see a weka again - but have never seen a kea | Gillybob Sat Feb 2, 2008 10:01 UTC Phew!
