Beautiful Bonita, a Breath of Spring | Osprey in tree at Barefoot Beach Sanctuary |
Why go to Southwest Florida, especially Lee County? Why, because of its beauty, the beaches, the wildlife, the culture, the shopping, and the excellent restaurants.
This area has many distinct areas, each with its own unique personality and special attractions.
Below are some examples:
Cape Coral: It boasts more miles of canals than Venice, Italy! It's a community with a multitude of marinas, golf courses, tennis, freshwater fishing, and a water park. Also the Burrowing Owl (rare) digs holes underground to live, and they are found in the Cape Coral area.
Fort Myers Located on the banks of the Caloosahatchee Intracoastal Waterway and is known as the "City of Palms." There are 1,800 majestic royal palms lining McGregor Boulevard.
Fort Myers Beach It's located on Estero Island and has long been recognized as one of the "world's safest beaches" because of its shoreline that gently slopes into the gulf. There are miles of beaches, many back bays, estuaries, and lush mangrove forests.
Mattacha & Pine Island Once you cross the bridge to Matlacha area, it's like stepping back in time when fishing was the area's biggest industry. This quaint little village continues to be a fisherman's paradise. It's also known for the "Fishingest Bridge in the USA!"
Sanibel & Captiva Islands Miles of pristine white sand beaches and dense mangrove forest, these narrow islands offers visitors the best shelling beaches in North America! Over half of the islands are preserved as wildlife sanctuaries. No building is taller than the highest palm tree (it's the law)!
Bonita Springs & Beaches, Estero On the southern boundary of the Lee Island Coast are remote island beaches which are considered to be some of the most beautiful in the area. There are also parks and wildlife areas where you can walk through the remnants of history or along elevated boardwalks through wet prairies and Cypress grounds. |
| Beach Houses at Bonita Beach |
How Many Wealthy People Can There Be? As we walked along Bonita Beach, we marveled at the beautiful, huge beach houses that cost millions of dollars. We ask, "Where do so many people get so much money?" |
| Allan at Corkscrew Sanctuary |
Thank Goodness for Audubon As we walked the 2.5 miles in the Corkscrew Santuary and were awed by the wildlife and giant cypress trees, we just thanked our lucky stars that Audubon had the forethought to help save a portion of this beautiful area. |
Bird Watchers Rejoice! This area is a paradise for bird watchers. The trees, bushes, and beaches are "loaded" with birds of every kind. |
Bonita's Beautiful Sunsets We were always in awe of the beautiful sunsets as we walked the beaches in Bonita. |
Bonita's Towering Banyan Tree One of the most referenced landmarks of Old Bonita Community Park is this towering Banyan Tree. |
| Dee & Allan at Jungle Larry's |
Jovial Fun at Jungle Larry's It's always fun to drive over to Naples and visit Jungle Larry's. It's a great show, especially with all the wild cats. |
| Fountain at the Shopping Mall |
Classy Ambiance at the Shopping Mall It's a joy to shop in Bonita Springs because of the atmosphere, architecture, and outdoor fountains and waterfalls. |
