We get to Sapalo Sound about 1:15. Across the sound, we are going to go up into the Wahoo River to anchor. I put a route on the computer last night to indicate that, but stowed it, and it isn't there now, so Bob is going up the wrong side. He goes up to take down the staysail and prepare the anchor while I steer across the shoals, some of which are exposed as it is low tide. There is a little power boat sitting out on the mud flats waiting for the tide to pick him up.
Bob complained that the place I wanted to anchor was too far away from the ICW, so we anchored right at the mouth of the river. I was able to call our daughter on the bag phone, because there is no signal on the ATT phone.
We anchored after 50.4 miles at 6.6 mph by 2:40 pm after a total of 426 nm since Miami.
Then we sat in the cockpit and read the Sunday paper. The sun came out. The boat swung with the tide, which picked up the little power boat.
We could get several TV stations really well, and watched ice skating for a bit. Then I turned on NPR and we listened while we had dinner in the cockpit, and left it on when we went below. I put on long underwear and Bob lighted the new anchor light and put it in the aft cabin. It is nice and bright. After it runs out of oil, it gets colder.
In the morning, Bob was up by 6:30 to start pulling the anchor. It was 44.4 deg F. The anchor was muddy and needed to be washed off. A nut backed off the windlass and he came back for a hammer and a wrench to fix it. I drove out while he stowed stuff, and put up the staysail, cooked himself some bacon (I had bagels). We also had hot cocoa.
I'm seeing V's of geese flying across the cloudless sky. Terns are sitting on the crab pot buoys. We cross St. Catherine Sound and go through the Florida Straights into Ogeechee River. Bob is following our previous track when I suddenly remember that it is wrong, and goes a slightly longer (but deeper) way. There is a new Catalina 42 with a pale blue bimini behind us and they go the shorter way and pass before we enter Hell Gate.
Most of the time the current is against us. Sometimes we are only going 3 or 4 knots.

We met a couple on the pilothouse in the picture in Fernandina and Jekyll. He had built it himself. They were from Maryland.
They passed us after we left Jekyll Island as they are faster than we are.
We anchored after 55 sm in the Wahoo River where the dolphins were frollicking in the shallows. The phosphorescence was so strong that it lit up the whole hose out of the toilet when we flushed.
