When you visit the Taj Mahal it is best to go before dawn . We had the chance to go twice while we were in Agra. The first time was in the afternoon and the it was very crowded. Then the next day our guide got us up before dawn and we had the place to ourselves. Watching the sun rise on The Taj was just incredible ! |
| | Jaipur A great thing to do when you are in Jaipur is to visit the Amber Fort . You can even ride an elephant up to the top .It was fantastic ! |
| | The Streets in India Making your way through the streets in India can be quite an experience . The cattle are every where so just be careful where you step. These scared cows are docile but they can have sharp horns . One of the folks in our group was gored in the arm while shopping! |
| | Saris !! One thing that impressed me during our trip through India was how beautiful the women were in their flowing saris . |
| | Varanasi One of the most scared places in India is Varanasi which is located on the Ganges River . People come from all over to bathe and to drink the holy water . They also come here to die so that their ashes may be sprinkled in the river. Visiting here can be a very emotional experience. This picture is of a burial of a 2 year old child .Children of that age are not cremated but are carefully wrapped in a cloth and are placed in the river at dawn . |
| | When you go to Varanasi make sure you go right before dawn and go out on a boat to watch the sun rise over the river . |
| | Neil and I both agreed that our trip to India was one of the most unforgetable journeys we had ever taken and we would go again in a heart beat . But traveling in India can at times be very exhausting , emotionally and physically . |
