Only sixty-miles from Downtown Los Angeles, Mt. Baldy is a "skiers" mountain. No snow-making, limited grooming, and some wild terrain. It's not popular, so funds are limited, and the lodge and lifts suggest pre-perestroika Soviet Union. More detailed information is available under "sports tips". |
| | Thunder Mountain One of two peaks serviced by lifts. Thunder has better exposure and terrain, and is therefore open more often. |
Steeps Great Steeps off the lower chair, if the terrain is open, and if the snow-level is below 6000 ft.
| | Late Snows in So California Skiing is best in Spring. This is looking towards Mt. San Antonio from Thunder Mt. |
The approach... This is my rattletrap car from a couple years ago(I bought it for $500, drove it for four months, and it died. I sold it for $75). The white summit in the background is Mt. San Antonio(Baldy), and this is the view, en route.

jumpingnorman Tue Dec 9, 2008 00:09 UTC LOL...it's true people need hot bods in LA to be noticed...hehehe...nice tip _ I gave you a FIVE! hehehe | madamx Sat Nov 29, 2008 02:59 UTC What an enjoyable read. Great pics of Watts Towers. I've always enjoyed Venice Beach too, and it's a shame more people don't use the metro. | Roadquill Wed Aug 20, 2008 06:32 UTC I don't care if it is a tourist trap or not, low in tackiness was easily balanced by the height of the skirts..... ;-) | Stargazer1 Fri Jun 22, 2007 20:00 UTC Good tips. Thanks. |
