I was visiting friends in Virginia for Christmas and we had a dinner party Christmas evening. In celebration of the holiday, I made a Yule Log. It was a sponge cake rolled up with a whipped cream filling with chocolate shavings and mint in it. Then I melted dark chocolate into it for the outer frosting and decorated it with coconut, shaved chocolate, mint leaves and marachino cherries.

And no.... it didn't survive the night.... <grin>

And this is a Banana split cake... Each layer of spongecake had a different topping that is on the classic Banana split. The first layer had hot (well, cold in this case) fudge, the second layer had strawberry topping and the third layer had a pineapple topping. Each layer had a banana cream filling as well as the ice cream toppings. The top was decorated with chopped nuts, chocolate and cherries.

Needless to say, it didn't last long when I brought it in to work!

A friend had his birthday recently and I baked a strawberry cake for him. I promised him it wasn't anything he could get at the store if he was to go buy a cake...

Everything was made by hand except the strawberry glaze. That was just too inexpensive at the store to bother with trying to make a go of it.

And this is the final product...... (I had to include the first one so that I could show I was there during its construction! *grin*)
