I got my buddy Eric when he was just a wee lad, in 1985. I could fit him on the palm of my hand. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of his early years. But he was a cute little stinker with a crook at the end of his tail.

Eric was a hunter and a digger. He caught many an earthworm and brought it home to Mom, leaving them on the livingroom carpet, usually. One day he brought home a snake. Luckily it wasn't dead and I was able to nurse it back to health before setting it free again. He also caught a few mice in his day. But mostly he liked digging and getting dirty.

Eric was a no-nonsense kind of kitty. If he wanted something, he told you about it: Food, attention, a cleaner cat box... He never really took to playing with string & stuff, but he did enjoy his share of catnip.

This is the last pic I took of Eric just about a week before he died. He was diagnosed with renal failure the summer before, but he seemed pretty happy until around the holidays, 2003. I think the winter took its toll on him. Here he is snuggling up with Miss Kitty next to the radiator.

Eric died on Jan 5, 2004. Miss Kitty and I miss him a lot.
