| Palm Garden Golf Club - My Home Club |
During my schooldays, I consider myself an athlete - as the succeeding paragraph will show.... but thru the years, sports have changed tremendously.... the Olympic motto of "The most important thing is sports is not winning, but taking part"..... It is meant to foster better relationship between sportsmen and nations... but is is not to be so... sportsmen of the present era is all out to win and achieve money and fame, at whatever cost... we read of cheats, drugs, rough play and violence on the field... and many more.... and of course, betting on winning teams......
I have left all this behind and only play golf now - the gentleman's game... but is it so.... we still learn of cheatings on handicaps.... I play golf everyday now, as a form of daily exercise and to keep fit.... |
|  | School Colours.... My sporting days started when I was in secondary school.... Sporting events cover athletics and games.... I would say that I and fellow sportsmen spend more than half our school hours in the field for training and practice...
The greatest achievement in school sports is when a student is awarded "School Colours"... This is in recognition of the students excellence in the sporting field...

| | On The Tracks.... In athletics, I win medals in every areas... whether running, jumping or throwing... I am a sprinter and hence a member of the school relay team... my favourite events are 100m dash, high jump, 110m hurdles, discus throwing and of course cross country (or a mini marathon).... |
| | On The Field...... On the field, although I excel in rugby (is it because of my physical size)... I am also in the school team for soccer, basketball, volleyball, hockey and cricket...
I played for the school for rugby after I entered secondary school.. I was first in the school's Under 14 team, followed by the Under 15 team and then the First XV (which is the school's senior team)... We were the rugby Under 14 and Under 15 champions while the runners-up for the First XV and the 7-a-Side...
After leaving school, I continued playing rugby for the university... and basketball at club level...and picked up tennis as well... |

| | Golfing Days.... After leaving all contact games for some time, I venture into golf about 15 years ago... I played for only 1 or 2 years and was not able to play good golf... I left golf and took up swimming...
After a lapse of 10years.. I took up golf again 3 years ago... and am enjoying it now... As a retiree, I play golf most mornings as a form of exercise... walk 9 holes of the course pulling my trolley every morning.... It was a good 2 hours workout almost everyday...
I also join the occasional tournaments to see how I fare against other golfers... and for networking as well as to make new golfer friends...
Every so often, I will travel over the country and overseas (as well) to play golf.... I have played in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam... will be visitng more countries for golf soon... so VTers, be expecting me in your cities.... and golf courses.. |
