* Merry Christmas from Hong Kong 2004*

Mr. Ginger Bread & his wife @ HK Winter Festival
Do you like Christmas? How important Christmas is to you?

In Europe, Christmas is the time the family gather and celebrate together. I experienced several Christmas days in Europe. The atmosphere is really warm and impressive. It's not difficult to see beautiful decorations, they're just EVERYWHERE.

Shop decorations on Oxford Street and Regent Street in London were really graceful.

Home decorations in Germany are very lovely - many German families like hanging a 'blowing Santa Claus with a climbing pose' right outside their windows, it's really funny! Inside their homes, lots of candles in lots of beautiful candle holders are lit up. This really makes you feel warm. Of course, there is at least one big christmas tree in the living room. Unlike those in HK, the trees are real, not plastic....

For me, Christmas is the greatest festival. It's difficult to see so many smiling faces on the street on other days. It's really the best moment to see the vibrant life of Hong Kong.
Santa Claus is really in town!

Lovely Christmas decorations @ Statue Square, Central.
There must be at least one...

The tallest outdoor Christmast tree in HK

Height = 35m. Again, you can see it at HK Winter Festival.
What a comparison?

Contrast

The giant IFC2 vs the tallest Xmas tree in town.

Cold vs warm.

Which side you are on? I vote for the tree!!!

Christmas Day - Dido

The young gentleman came riding past on a snow-blue winter's day
He asked to drink by our fire and I was pleased to let him stay
He drank there quietly for a while and then he turned and said to me

Your eyes are green like summer grass
Your lips are red like a fresh-cut rose
Your hair is soft like an Irish stream
And your voice is filled with sweet beauty

And the last words I heard him say were
I shall return for you my love on Christmas Day

And the night will come but I won't sleep as I watch the stars that lead him
I cannot place where he is but still my heart goes with him
I'm saving all my Sunday clothes for the day that I'll be leaving
Father knows, my sister knows

And my friends, they're happy for me and the priest he says
You should thank God for the blessing of such beauty

And the last words I heard him say were
I shall return for you my love on Christmas Day

I shall return for you my love on Christmas Day

And the last words I heard him say
Were the last words I ever heard him say

I shall return for you my love on Christmas Day
I said I will return on Christmas Day
And yes, I shall return on Christmas day
I shall return, for you, on Christmas Day
My love, I will return on Christmas Day
I shall return, my love, on Christmas Day
On Christmas Day
The most beautiful decoration - the Peninsula.

Surprised?

It's really a big surprise for me to see that the Peninsula adopts the decoration from 2002 again.

It's just fabulous.
... Central, taken from a tram.

The tram...

Being the slowest mode of transportation in HK, the tram offers the best way to tour along the 'tram road' on the HK Island. The decorations in Central are not bad, right?
