Monteverde Cloud Forest

Waterfall - Monteverde Cloud Forest
Aaah ... some cooler temperatures now, what a relief!
Monteverde trail and foliage
The trees and foliage in the Monteverde cloud forest are very lush and quite remarkable
The most popular activity in Monteverde is birdwatching ... the people are searching especially for one bird in particular - the secretive and elusive Resplendent Quetzal. Here it is (though not especially visible due to bad lighting!) I can assure you it deserves the fame of being the most beautiful bird in Central and South America!
Resplendent Quetzal
White Nosed Coati
Now this is really an interesting animal ... the White Nosed Coati. It likes to scavenge for food and will stop at nothing to manage to steal the food in your rucksack - take my word for it! Cheeky but cute
Even here I managed to find a lizard that I could not identify! Any ideas?

Caligo Butterfly

Butterfly Garden

You cannot miss a visit to the Butterfly garden ... I found the place to be quite enlightening and I really want to thank the staff for being so helpful and making the tour so interesting. Pictured here is the spectacular Caligo (or Owl's Eyes) butterfly

Hummingbird Gallery

I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the hummingbird gallery! All the birds are wild and feeders filled with a mixture of sugar and water is put out for them. Great photo opportunities and highly recommended. It is so nice to simply relax and enjoy the brilliance of these little birds!
Purple Throated Mountain Gem
Pair of Bananaquits at the birdy Mc Donald's!
Not only the hummingbirds enjoy this easy fast food joint ...

Did you book a tour for Costa Rica or did you travel on your own?

I think the lizards are Anoles. Quite common here in Florida. Pura Vida
