Badger Weir is one of my favourite nature parks of all in Victoria. There are actually no Badgers in Australia at all, however it is thought that early explorers saw Platypus in the creek and mistook them for Badgers, hence the name for the creek and this area. |
| | Besides nice walks in the rainforest and to the weir, the Park also has many BBQ areas, which are rather full on weekends with families and groups enjoying a day out in the countryside. |

jackyspringall Fri Jun 26, 2009 23:24 UTC To Healesville by public transport catch the train to Lilydale. There's a bus service from Lilydale station to Healesville & some buses that go to the sanctuary. Trains from Melbourne about every 30 mins but buses not very frequent so check timetable | eerb Sun Apr 30, 2006 02:12 UTC healesville is 1hr 30 mins away from melbourne by public transport. Instead of going to hurstbridge, get on the train to Lilydale and from Lilydale get on a Mckenzie's bus to Healesville via Yarra Glen. it's a lot quiker | craic Tue Dec 21, 2004 02:10 UTC What a great page about a super little place. | aussiedoug Fri Apr 16, 2004 12:50 UTC Lovely photos & excellent info on this lovely place that O/S visitors really should see. At my wife's work they had a pair of nesting Plovers with 2 chicks & all seemed fairly used to the passing people. Mum would sometimes herd the chicks away. |
