Early in the morning I got a nice shot of the Castillo. It was cooler and without so many tourist. I arrived at 8am and didn't see anybody until around 9:30am when all of the tourist from Cancun started arrive, just as it was really heating up.

These cenotes or caves are found all over the Yucatan Penisula and were very important to the Maya as water sources. The cenotes formed through years of errosion in the very soft limestone shelf.

Here early in the morning I took this shot of behind temple II and facing temple I. I love the isolation of this ancient metropolis in the middle of the jungle. It is ruled by howler monkeys, parrots, tocans, and jaguars.
