The Chapel of the burning bush is considered the holiest place in the Monastery. This is the only bush of it´s species in the whole of the Sinai peninsula. Many attempts have been made to transplant a branch to another place, but every time the branch has died!
You are not allowed to use this toilet, You have to use the toilets on the opposite side and pay a pound - of course!
I dont know if it is a custom to light a candle or if the man (a local - not a priest) cheated us - 10 Le for a candle - of course!
If You want to see all the Icons in a special room - 50 Le/person - of course.
They really need all the money they can get to keep up the work and so on with the Monastery.
You have to pay about 15 Le for a single ride, but it´s a nice - try it

Excellent tips. Just returned from Sharm - took a taxi to Sharks Bay and Ras um Sid - used your prices as a guide - the snorkelling was excellent - cost us 40LE at Ras um Sid - but it was a beautiful spot. Thanks.
I am so glad you mentioned snorkelling - I was wondering if maybe this was only a good place for diving. Excellent tips (like about wearing long sleeves & pants at the monasteries), & poetic, too ("the rain forest is under the water") : )
