I attended a book signing for "Memnoch the Devil" in Los Angeles in 1995, and met Anne Rice briefly. I'd begun reading her books once I fell in love with New Orleans. While staying at the Pontchartrain, the doorman told me that her house was within walking distance, so I high tailed it right over there.

Da' Mayor

San Francisco Mayor, Willie Brown, made an impromptu appearance at my birthday party at Le Bistrot in 2000. To be honest, he was there at the bar frequently. He happened to be there that night as well, and one of my friends invited him in to the room we'd reserved. And actually, I'm not exactly a fan.

My friend was mad about Fabio. I noticed in the paper that he was promoting his (then) new men's cologne at some department store in Sherman Oaks or thereabouts. Everyone got to take his picture and spend a few minutes (alone) with him. "I don't really care; I just came 'cause I knew how much YOU wanted to see him!" I told my friend. When she had her few minutes with him prior to mine, she was chatting away and laughing. For all my nonchalance, once he put his arms around me and whispered "Hello" in my ear with his heavy Italian accent, I was speechless!! Fabio doesn't phase me -- YEAH RIGHT!!
