"About town in Venice with Lorenzo and Asli" Venice Travelogue by Martin_S.

I am not sure and I forgot to ask Lorenzo and Asli, but it always seemed that in Venice there were more churches than shops. Every street seemed to have one or two.

This was one of the relatively wide streets in Venice. You could step back and get a view of the street. Most of the buildings were of unremarkable matte colors, with the exception of some burnt sienna that you can see in the very back.

Almost as numerous as the churhces were the sidwalk cafes. Like in other Italian towns we visited, it is of great importance to have a good coffee while you are checking out the world as they walk by your cafe table...

Another church we spotted that had some exceptionally detailed stone work on the roof. Aside from the details on the spires there are a series of men or angels on the center piece and two more larger statues under the spires.

This was a more typical street, but not the narrowest by any means. But we could still not walk all of us abreast. I think the width was 4 of us, think of that, only 4 people (none of us really wide) can walk side by side between buildings...

The only thing in Venice that outnumbers the churches and the tourists is the pigeons. There must be a million of them there. You can see this small fountain "buried" under an army of them and since all they do is eat and "get rid of what they ate", then you can imagine the type of target practice they do when they fly over your head. Its a good idea to wear a hat.

Well here you can only see Tal with the pigeons on her, but you can be assured that Asli was right there with Tal for most of the time, feeding those pigeons. Now Tal has put her hat back on......^O^

And of course this is what you must do after you have "played" with the pigeons. Asli is making sure there will be no pigeon left on her hands before we have some local made ice cream.

YES! Always take your children along during your travels. I do agree! Only for the education of other cultures and languages is one reason to do so. The smile on their faces is another. A site well done!
