ANIMALIA: Some of My Four Legged Friends!

by Hmmmm - last update: Nov 4, 2003

Chomp, Chomp, Chomping in Cheju Island.

Pony Foal Chewing his Cud?
On a rather interesting trip to South Korea's 'Hawai'i', Cheju Do, we ran into this little guy. He, with all his personality just needed to be snapped. He was in the pen with his mum, She was a grey, but rather bored.

I took this picture at a gorgeous little 'Min Seok Cheon', a small Korean folk village, that had wonderful berry tea, fresh Honey Sandwiches, and great traditional Cheju Korean architecture. A wonderful little joint and worth a visit.
Woof Woof Woof Grrr Grrr Grrr

Did You Know Dogs in Korea say Mong Mong Mong!

These two beautiful pure breed Chindo Dogs could bark the birds from the trees, the leg off a mule and anybody including me up the wall.

On a visit to Kanghwado island near the North Korean border, I was photographing some old farmers' buildings when these dogs not only scared away my girlfriend, but riled me as well.

Still I still wanted to go up and say 'Nice Doggies' and give them both a pat. Chindo Dogs are known for their loyalty and their intelligence. they also feature in a good many 'away - home' stories, so there you go... Lovely Doggies in my humble opinion.
Spritely Chindo Puppy Eating up a Fence.

Grrr Munch Chomp Chomp Grrr Munch!

.

Here is another wee Chindo Dog. But this one is just a wee lad, a puppy. He also lives in Kanghwado, the same Island as the other two yonder 'Yappers.'
Tied up in Do Cho Do, Korea.

What a Nice Doggy...

This guy, is what the Koreans call a 'Ddong Kae', a mongrel, or mutt in English. This guy has a bit of Chindo in him for sure. Anyway, this dog lives in a real, living Min Seok Cheon. A traditional Korean village.

However, his, this dog's village is lived in by real people, and its not for show. In the outer areas of korea, like the isolated Islands of the south, one can still find people who live the 'old way'. But these villages are becoming increasingly rare. Corporate and concrete Korea, is making its presence known in these little hamlets too.
Doggy Style near Daeheung Station.

Please, Please Get a Hotel Room or Something!

Two city dogs making sure that there will be more city dogs in times to come.

Note the tee shirt on the female dog. People in Seoul love to dress their dogs. I've seen dogs with ornage and pink ears, wearing tartan suits and brown leather shoes. It, has to be seen to be believed.
Look at this girl, Being so mean to her Cat!

Puss in Boots? I Think not, It can't even get Fed!

.

I saw this mean girl in Amerikamura, in Osaka, Japan, eating merily as her cat recieved nothing. Look at the poor cat, forced to beg like that. What's the world coming to.

I was tempted to call the RSPCA, but though nah... But I will take this shot show I can share this beastly behaviour with the world.
Monkey eating Breadfruit, Uppavelli, Sri Lanka.

Monkey Business!

This monkey was one of many that lived in the overgrown area that used to obviously be a resort area on Uppavelli/Nilavelli beach area in Sri Lanka.

With the Civil war much of the area to the north of Trincomalee is in disrepair, from mortar fire, fighting and pure abandonment. This area along a lesser known stretch of beach, is home to no-one save a troupe of monkeys.
Cow being lead, in Do Cho Do.

Now I know why So Kalbi is so Delicious.

I took this photograph in Chollanam Do (South Cholla Province), my favourite part of South Korea.

I took it because the breed of cow is very different to the Angus' or the Jerseys' that I would find in my native New Zealand.

This cow is obviously a beef cow, and probably bred for Kalbi (korean barbeque). Some of these cows are just fed apples, to make their meat lighter, tender and tastier. Hmmmmm!
