"Home in Bangkok" Personal Page by BorderHopper

A worldly home designed by Borderhopper

I can't take all the credit for getting this place to look as it now looks...but I'll take most of it. When we first purchased the small apartment it was just white washed concrete devoid of any warmth. Obviously we had to work with what we have, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and not a whole lot of space, and I am pretty satisfied with the outcome. There are still many things I'd like to do......cherry wood floors is my next order of business.

Home Sweet Home....

This is the living room and as you can see it is pretty tiny. When I bought the place there was no kitchen so Wacharaporn had one put in. It fit perfectly in that far corner.

Bangkok Style

I personally hate white walls so I had the walls painted yellow. Yes...its bright but that is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to feel like I was somewhere special, somewhere warm.

I like color...lots of color

You can see the dining area here. Obviously its pretty small but I like the touches Wacharaporn made by adding the Thai silk which is draped over the center of the table. We also have a view of the downtown Bangkok skyline.....but I must admit we're pretty far away from it.

Ahh.sweet memories of Egypt & dreams of Africa!

I wanted the place to have a worldly feel to it so I went with a travel theme. Afterall travel is a huge part of my life. I brought these prints, one of Egypt & the other a French Air Afrique poster, with me from America and had them framed in Bangkok. They really add to the effect I wanted.

Do you sense the tropical vibe here?

Since I am in tropical Thailand I had to add a few tropical touches....like the palm plant, Jim Thompson silk pillows from Thailand, and a few 1930's era Shainghai girl prints for the entry way.

Tropical Balcony Garden

I love yards and I am lucky that my Los Angeles home has a yard in which I can get out and do some gardening. This home clearly has no yard so we bought tropical flowers to hang on the balcony. It really makes for a nice view from the front window.
