"Kylemore Abbey" County Galway Travelogue by Alain_Smeets

We had our car first at the garden but decided to go towards the abbey because we didn't want to pay the entrance fee for the garden, but he stupid us it was also for visiting the Abbey. So instead of parking our car in the shade we parked our car in the sun. We packed our bread, cheese and sausage into our backpack and we went inside.

We walked towards the Abbey and decided to take the lower road towards the church first, it's a nice walk through the forest and at the church we saw that the bench was empty and we sat down, got our picnic out and started to enjoy our lunch in the shade of this church.

In the time that we sat there eating, dozens of tourists were taking photos of this church and who is on that frame, off course we too enjoying our picnic. I can see them thinking that we wrong their photos, but we see it different we bring more value to that photo. -lol-

After that picnic we had a look inside the church and read the leaflet about the symbolic of the interior. This makes you look to some details and it gives you the explanation why it's build in this way

We continue our walk towards the small mausoleum and then continue towards the end of the track in hoping that we can walk around the lake. But after walking over the path in the forest, we come to a dead stop at a gate that is holding people out. So there is no other way for us then to go back. We are not alone here, we saw two other people who wanted to walk too.

We head back towards the abbey and we start our visit inside. There are some rooms that are open for public and from upstairs we here the lovely voices of some children who are singing a song. It seems like a choir practice, but we are not allowed to go upstairs, so we continue our visit to the abbey. Now we have to wait for the buss that will take us towards the walled Victorian garden.

This garden is beautiful it's full of flowers, grass and vegetables. Gardeners and job students maintain it. We overheard some of them talking in German. The sun is still there high in the sky we want to find a place in the shade to wait for the buss to take us back towards the abbey.

First something to drink and then back into our car, do you still remember me saying that it was parked in the sun, well it was baking hot inside. We drove away and while driving we are enjoying the landscapes around us. Recess here we come and on that way we found that beautiful walking path towards the chapel at Mamean..
