"Vendimias - The Grape Harvest - 1" Castrillo de la Vega Travelogue by Beach_dog

Castrillo de la Vega Travel Guide: 7 reviews and 28 photos

Late September and early October in 'Castrillo de la Vega' is the time of the grape harvest. Extra labour is recruited and the vineyards start their hardest days of the year. Picking the grapes for the production of the local wine, Cerro Piñel.

Work starts in the early morning, with whole families and even the dog turning up for the harvest.

The bunches of grapes are cut with a small hooked knife and placed in the baskets, each one when full weight about 30 kg.

The baskets are loaded into the bucket of the tractor.

'Back to work Beach_dog' was Carmen's mothers cry.

An endless task, this field seems to dissappear over the horizon.

Carmen (Carmela71) keeps an eye on Beach_dogs progress.

The tractor offloads it's bucket to the trailer, slowly it fills, but we will be lucky to fill it by the end of the day.

Part 2 continues HERE.
