Modern and so very impressive underground. The Britomart Transport centre will tie all the systems together, for transport in and out of Auckland City.
The modern and very attractive underground railway station is worth a visit even if you don't plan to get on a train.
When I visited recently we could get onto the platform no problem, but I cannot say if that will remain once they have finished building the building. |
|  | Stainless and Colours. This is something really different. The architects have used the stainless and concrete effect to depict the volcanic nature of the area, and some really nice coloured lighting to give the platforms life. I really liked the finished effect! |
| | Lighting Effects. More effects evident here with the huge lighting diffusers in the ceiling. |
| | Streetlevel. At street level the Britomart is older and more traditional. A really lovely old stone building, this used to be the central Post Office.
Oct 2003 and the renovations in this part of the Transport Centre are still not complete. So I don't really know what will be here. You go through this part to get to the underground platforms. |

Thanks for the tips Pam. I might go there for my honeymoon, Jan. of next year. Free city circuit bus is interesting just like the free city circle tram of Melbourne. |
