I lived here for 12 years after my Dad sold our sheep and cattle property outside tara, west of dalby (see separate note).
It's a very beautiful city of over 80,000 people. Very cold in winter, perfect in summer. So many things to do and see.
I went to The Toowoomba Preparatory School at the top of Campbell Street. The school is one of Queenslands oldest and most famous primary schools and is worth a visit also.
As kids, we used to hike to "Table Top Mountain" which can be seen from Picnic Point, an outcrop that looks out over the beautiful Lokyer Valley below.
The city is lined with huge, beautiful old camphor-laurel trees and loud kurrawong birds that wake you not-so-gently in the mornings.
Definately one of Australia's most beautiful cities that comes into its unique style in spring with the flowers that grow mad in this volcanic soil. |
