18th August - 8-September 2003 We started off driving from France, down over the Alps to Italy and then spent 10 days driving around the the coast and some of the major citys - Firenze, Roma, Napoli, Venezia. Cinque Terre was pretty amazing and well worth a visit but our favourite spot was a place called Termoli on the Adriatic coast. Just so quiet and peaceful and RELAXING!! |
| | France We started from England and our first stop was at out of the way place near the France/Geneva. 4€ for a great little spot near a river and so quiet! That night we had the most amazing lighting storms and it although I got a bit anxious being under a big tree I was so lulled to sleep with the lightening flickering through the tent! Then we headed down to Nice over the Alps. We decided to take a road that is known as one of the highest roads in Europe, the view alone are amazing. Going from 34 degrees to 7degrees! It's a single lane in some places so you have to be careful of other cars as well as ice. |
| | Roma You'll have to forgive the picture quality - I did have a proper camera but this was taken on my camera phone... We loved Roma. I have been before but Austin hasn't, so it was really nice to see his reaction to things and see Roma with fresh eyes. The Pantheon is our favourite building - just wonderous. And the gelato is awesome! |
| | Croatia - WOW After Italy we ferried from Ancona to Split and drove down to Dubrovnik. Wow! We both loved Croatia. The coastline was lovely, the people friendly and the food! Yum. This picture was taken in Trogir with some friends of mine I met up with in Split. |
| | The Hills Are Alive With The Sound of Music Maria was right - only they aren't hills, they are huge mountains! Austria was awesome! We loved Salzburg and the surrounding countryside! We were told about Berschgaden (have I spelt that right?) just across the boarder into Germany - so we went and found ourselves on a tour up to the Eagles Nest. Very spooky place but the views are stunning! I can see why it was built there! |
