The Borghese Gallery & Park

by paulapes - last update: May 15, 2001

Restoration on the Borghese Gallery took 14 years to complete. The Gallery opened in early Fall of 1997, about a month before my sister and I were there. Here are some pictures from our Guidebook (we were not allowed to take pictures inside the Gallery, of course). This first picture is a 1636 portrait of the Villa Borghese, when it was the Borghese home.
Pauline Bonaparte, by Antonio Canova 1805-1808. This was my favorite.
Apollo and Daphne, by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, 1622-1625. The Bernini sculptures were so beautiful!
The Borghese Park (just a tiny portion!)
