From the Villa Medici To the right, in the background, you can see Michelangelo's dome of Saint Peter's Basilica. It took 100 years to build the Vatican and Saint Peter's Basilica, starting in 1506. It replaced the earlier church built by Constantine on the site of St. Peter's tomb. |
Painter in the Puddle There were plenty of dry areas where this artist could have stood, but I guess this was the view he wanted for his painting that day. He is standing just to the left of where I took the photo of the city above. |
