Low Tide - Isobel at the Marina

by grandmaR - last update: Jun 2, 2004

Looking at the covered slips from up the hill. Boats were removed from the slips so the tidal surge didn't bang them up against the roof
Our boat at submerged B dock
The docks at low tide are below water - when I waded out to take this picture I was in water up to my knees. At high tide the water was up to the tops of the pilings on the right. (about 5 feet)
Bob looking at A dock
Bob doesn't like to get his feet wet. A dock is more likely to be flooded than our dock. The gas dock is to the left.
Marina office with displaced steps
The marina office steps were moved by the water but the office itself was fine. The marina was without electricity (which also meant no water for toilet flushing because they get their water from a well) for over a week.
From the road
Spinnaker's restaurant on left. Covered slips on right. Marina office and A dock in the center
marina restaurant
They tried to rebuild the restaurant but eventually decided to tear it down completely and start fresh. They've taken bets on when it will open. I bet on sometime in August.
Haul slip (for travel lift)
The two posts are at the end of two piers which the travelift goes on. The boat being hauled is in the slip between the posts. The water was too deep for me to get closer.
Our Boat being hauled

May 2004

Just for comparison, this is a boat hanging over the haul slip in the slings of the travelift. This whole area is under water in the above photo.

Rosalie, Incredible site you have! I'm just getting started. Loved picture of Mystic Maid. See more ASTA Tall Ships 2005 on my site. Doug (ex sailor)

I recommend Courtney's if you want for good seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. The crabs are excellent, her Maryland crab soup is wicked, fresh fish entrees are well prepared with generous portions, and her fruit cobblers are legendary.
