A fun weekend in Dallas

Weekend in August 2003

Pete's Dueling Piano Bar
Pete's Dueling Piano Bar
All of these photo's are of the weekend a college friend of ours was in town from South Carolina in August, 2003.

Pete's Dueling Piano Bar is this great bar north of Dallas in Addison. I consider all of Addison to be rather generic, but I always have a blast at this place. There are two grand piano's and crazy piano players. They play against each other for tips. On weekdays, you can actually get a table to sit closer and get more involved, on the weekends, we've had to wait in long lines for people to leave so we could fit in. It's either $5 or $8 bucks to get in there. The only problem is that they get rather crude. I'm usually too preoccupied to listen, but if you're more easily offended, probably not the place for you.
Midnight Bowling
STRIKE!
Here we are Midnight Bowling. This is where the bowling alley turns off the lights, turns on the black lights making everything white glow, cranks up the music and offers up buckets'o'beer! Makes for a pretty good time. :)
The West End is a very touristy spot in Dallas. Unfortunately, other than the restaurants, I'd felt it had kind of gotten run down until recently when I'm happy to say, I think things there are picking up. There are a few clubs down there including the Bar Dallas and Have a Nice Day Cafe, there are loads of restaurants, a huge game room, lots of little touristy shops, etc. They even manage to have some decent acts outside sometimes. There are horse and buggy rides offered around the area and many of the restaurants offer outdoor patio's which is why my friends and I head out there occasionally. It's within walking distance of The Dallas World Acquarium and many of the restaurants there offer free bus rides with receipt over to games and other events at the American Airlines Center around the corner.

Happy Birthday, Gina. Haven't heard from our about you in a long long time. Life good in Kentucky? I haven't been there - save a trip through the N. KY airport a few times - in a while.
