Raymond Trailhead on East Mountain Rd.

Raymond trailhead, Pack Monadnock
I like this trail best. There are 2 other trails that start at the Miller State Park parking lot, but they can get pretty crowded, especially in summer and foliage season. Not many people know about the Raymond trail. East Mountain Road is the first road west of the Miller State Park entrance off of Route 101. The trailhead is about a 1/2 mile up E. Mtn. Rd. on the right.

This view of the big grand-daddy Mt. Monadnock is on the Raymond trail heading up Pack Monadnock (Little Monadnock).
Cliff on Pack Monadnock

At the summit of Pack Monadnock

There are plenty of pic-nic tables, a lean-to and some stinky but visibly clean toilets.
North Pack from the tower on Pack Monadnock

North Pack from the tower

There's a lookout tower on the top of Pack Monadnock. Here's a view of North Pack. The Wapack Trail North will take you to the North mountain.

I still mourn the loss of "the old Man"...and my time in Bristol. I'll have to make a trip back some day. Did you ever ski Tenney?

I lived in NH until 3 years ago. The weather there isn't bad, like it was when I was a kid with winter temps below zero most of the time & LOTS of snow. I was very LUCKY to be there! Now I am 3 hrs. to beach & 4 hrs. to Mts. & it's humid as hell in NC!
