"Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City" Vietnam Travelogue by windsorgirl

We began our tour in Hanoi, from where I made a day trip to the Perfume Pagoda. Hanoi's old quarter is very interesting and you can spend hours getting lost in the maze of streets. If you do get lost just have someone point you in the direction of Hoan Kiem Lake and you'll be fine.
From Hanoi, we drove to Halong City where we caught a cruise of Halong Bay. We spent the night on Cat Ba Island.
Next we headed north by overnight train to Sapa. We spent 3 days here walking thru the spectacular countryside.
After a brief stopover in Hanoi, we took another overnight train south to Hue. Here we visited the Imperial Palace, cycled thru the countryside and cruised the Perfume River.
We then stopped for 4 days in Hoi An, everyone's favourite. We rented bicycles to get around town and to the beach. I also made an excursion to the My Son Cham Towers. Spent alot of film in picturesque Hoi An.
Another day, another overnight train, this time to Nha Trang for 2 days on the beach, then our last sleeper train to Ho Chi Minh City, where the tour ended. We toured the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta.
On my own now, I flew to Phu Quoc Island for 5 days of rest and relaxation on some gorgeous beaches.

One of my favorite countries!!
Thanks for including the Rent a Bike tip. I rented a bicycle in Hanoi in 1995 and had a great time riding all around, even though the bike was rather small. I've never been to Sapa, but your tips make it sound like a beautiful destination.
Ur page makes me prouder abt my country :-) Thanks! Love ur pics too, you have good photography eyes! I'll got some VN's North-West shots updated in my page soon, check out! ;-)
Rising Sun Bridge - what a beautiful photo!!!! By the way - have a very happy birthday on Friday - may all your travel dreams come true!!!

;-) nice photo.
I wish i knew about Phu Qoc when i was there a year ago, i didnt like Vietnam that much because there were so many tourists, if i knew about this place I think i could have seen myself spending alot of time there. Next time i guess.
This is another of your many amazing pages!! This must have been the experience of a life-time, based on your fantastic photos and tips! Interesting info on Ho, despite the fact his Temple lacks the Greek flair! Old Tu Duc was quite a character!
great pictures ! thanks!
Great Vietnam pages. I went there in Jan this year and loved it so much I'm going back in December.
