'The Forbidden Zone' | The Deadly Reason I Went Back! |
This is a disgusting, sickening & sad story. I first saw this aired on PETER JENNINGS, on our National News one night. I completely FROZE! They had video from up above showing all the BLOODY CARNAGE. A family of 11 ELEPHANTS. Ten SLAUGHTERED with auto-matic weapons. With half their heads chopped off. Yes because of the IVORY. A younger single ELEPHANT got away. The KWS feels it mostlikely hooked up with another family. I have those BLOODY SHOTS, I will not put them here. When I saw this it broke my heart. I knew I had to go back. My mission to visit this place of DEATH. Why, can't say. My LOVE for these gentle BEASTS. To show the KWS there are some people who care. I was the only one to make this mission ,this journey. I had to see for myself and feel it. Meet with the men of the KWS in this area. In doing so, I have many friends in KENYA. I am still in touch with the RANGER STATION and mails get sent to these BRAVE men out in the field. To let them know I am STILL HERE!! The RANGER life & job is hard. Low on funds & trucks ect. But they keep going. They huntdown POACHERS, have GUN BATTLES. Some die, 2 were killed not long ago. I am proud to have met these men all the way out in this part of TSAVO EAST. Also proud, not only I talk the talk. But I walk the walk. I said I was going. I WENT!! Will never forget these men of the KENYA WILDLIFE SERVICE 9/2002 The four photos here. Elephant skull from who knows when. At the KILL SITE. We are talking about what happen. The top two: On the way to meet those RANGERS, This family was so scared. They couldn't get of there fast enough. The BIG-ONE in the back was pushing the others. What fear they had/have! |
| | With Weapons In Hand, We're off! We drove about 50miles to get here. We had and escort with us. A KWS RANGER. Nobody is allowed to this area. North of the GALANA RIVER. It is FORBIDDEN. With the help of eco-resorts I was able to get permission to visit here. We could not drive the rest of the way to the site. Too thick and rough. I was nervous, not knowing what to expect. Again, being in a off-limits area. Never know what could happen. |
| | Piles of BONES Scattered all over! These men were so glad to have us. They told us everything. Did I mention these are the RANGERS that hunted down and had the GUN BATTLE with the poachers!! They were only 1 day behind the KILLERS! They killed the poachers. Except one. They got him later. The RANGERS took us in like one of their own. They are here discussing things with my guide JAMES KIPTOO. |
| | Tough Battle Of A Job They Have! These men eager to have photos taken. They never have anyone come out here. By the time I got there. The had to give the meat to the locals. The couldn't let it sit there. They told us how they had their GUN FIGHT, where. Where the poachers slept, carved off the meat from the TUSKS. They told us everything. James picked up a piece of paper from the bushes. The HEAD RANGER grabbed it out of his hand so fast. He opened it. There was a YELLOW SCORPIAN. To this day, I don't know why I didn't take a pic of it. Never saw one before. Those SCORPIANS. If you get bit, your DEAD in a day if you don't get help. How he saw it. I'll never know. But these men live out here. |
| | All Scattered! Most of the SKULLS were taken to learning centers and schools. All that is left are the rest of the bones. Something else that bugged me. The skin of the ELEPHANTS feet. Don't know, it bothered me. All is pretty much gone. But you can still SMELL THE DEATH here. This happened in MARCH/APRIL 2002. Still, the DEATH IS HERE. |
| | They Bury Thier Own!! See all the ELEPHANT DUNG here. The others come to visit thier lost comrades. ELEPHANTS tend to bury their own kind. Even years later, if they come across a bone. They take it with them for awhile. Peaceful, gentle huge GIANTS. Want nothing but some space and peace. TSAVO , up until the 1970's of the POACHING WARS. Had about 30 to 40,000 ELEPHANTS. After the 80's, hardly 10,000!! |
| | Shell Casings Here And There! One of the 10 ELEPHANTS. The RANGERS had said. The POACHERS waited in front of the BRUSH. Open fire. Some tried to run. I think a BIG BULL, died some distance away. They killed all they could. Even the little ones. They don't care. NO SOUL, NO HEART , NO CLASS. If anyone is even thinking about going on SAFARI. Don't think. GO!! The PARKS, where ever you may go. Need your money to keep things like this from happening. |
| Until Next Time, My Friends |
| | IN CLOSING!!!!! This was to show what has been going on. Still is. The PARKS need your help. Show my emotion and feeling for these BEASTS & MEN of the KWS. I also have a T-L in my TSAVO EAST PAGE. Belongs here also. They are not really the same. THE RANGERS: Quri Huka, Muhamed Kadid, John Naurori, Peter Koronkoro, David Lokiyor, Samuel Lokiren & Lewis Nzoya. This Page Is For You!!!!! I am going to put a poem up here. This is not something I really do. But, when I saw this at first. It made me write. Here It is: IVORY RED! Beautiful Ivory Powerful Ivory Contrast With The White It's Charcoal Colored Head But This Night It's IVORY RED!
Rangers On The Move Dedicated And Brave Some Have Seen This Before Elephants With Half A head It's Beautiful Tusks IVORY RED!
Beasts Scattered All Around A Lone Young Elephant Wailing In The Dark It's Family Slaughtered In Tsavo East Park Rangers Want Poachers Dead They Turned The IVORY RED! Thanks, David To my surprise. This poem is mine and is copyrighted. 9/2002 |
