On the weekend, we joined an organised boat trip through Ahlam (Dream Divers).
We had to be at the marina at 0800 to process our iqamas (you hand them in to Customs).
The boat left port at about 0830. |
The ride out to the reefs was beautiful. The sun was shining, people were already out on the water. I felt like I could have been anywhere in the world but Saudi Arabia. |
You go along the corniche, passing all the marinas, public beaches and homes along it. |
The water was so clear and the coral and fish were abundant. The majority of the group were divers, so the snorkelling was leisurely and uncrowded. |
There were two Ahlam boats, and at two of the sites we saw a Red Sea Diver boat. The boats were well-equipped with food, drinks, a toilet, sundeck, fresh water shower head etc. |
On the way back into port, the guys slowed the boat down and put the fishing lines out to trawl. Sonia reeled in a fish and was pretty excited about it. |
This marina which we passed, is one we hired a boat from last year. Lots of the locals have boats and are keen to hire it out for the day. We had a great time last year, and this year! |
