No we're not in Paris!!! We're in Volubilis.

The Arch was build on 217 by Marc Aurele Sebastene imperial procuror of Rome.

The Arch is 8 meter high and is open to the west on plain and on the east on the decumanus maximus (the main road long of 400m and large of 12m).

Roman Inscription

We can see on the inscription in Roman made by Marc Aurele. The Arc of Triomphe was build in honnor of Caracalla and Julia Domna (mother of Marc Aurele)

Basilique

The Basilic was a meeting place for the administrative people of the city. It was also use as a trade place, a court and a walking place for the citizen of the city.

Capitole

The Capitole was the place of cult in honnor of Jupiter, Junon and Minerve.

Porte de Tanger

La Porte de Tanger (the arch at the end of the photo) is at the end of the decumanus maximus the main road of the city.

Oil-press

This oil-press is among the very large number of oil processing installations. It was restored in 1990. It gives an idea of the machinery and the stage of olive oil production.
