The very talented and self-educated artist Badr is born in 1958 in Farafra. He built a traditional house, that serves as gallery. In the small desert garden are large sculptures all made of natural materials.
Inside are sand paintings of daily life in the desert and sculptures of smaller size.
I liked the small pieces of very expressive palm wood, found in the oasis and hardly worked up.
I choosed one for a free gift to bring home. |

A tarred road is nice for the inhabitants but it spoils definitely the places, which loose a part of their character. I have checked that on several occasions! You are right, coming back to a tarred road after a camel trip is so sad! | sayedaburas Sat Sep 24, 2005 04:11 UTC
