When Amsterdam VTer Diana (dila) and her husband, Jose, began their California holiday, we met them for lunch in North Beach, the Italian section of San Francisco.

|  | We took a stroll after lunch and passed this little garden, tucked away in the middle of a busy intersection in North Beach. |
Our walk took us down Grant Avenue, the main thoroughfare in San Francisco's Chinatown -- that's Jose's back.

| | Chris left us after we'd walked through Chinatown, but Kelly and I invited Diana and Jose to join our family's Sunday activities. We saw a great movie, "L'Auberge Espagnol," about a group of exchange students rooming together in Barcelona, and had a Chinese dinner at Five Happiness.
