We went to Keswick in April & took a chance with the weather, it was cold but sunny. We went to visit my daughter Nichola, she has recently bought a house, with boyfriend Nathan, in Carlisle, & Keswick is only a short drive away. We went in the middle of the "Foot & Mouth" epidemic, most of the footpaths were closed & also nearly all of the local hotels & B&B's were empty. |
Nic in her place of work (she's now a manager). |
ALLERDALE HOUSE. This is Pauline, the landlady, we arrived late in the evening & had a lovely welcome (cup of tea ready). We were her first visitors for three weeks !!! She cooks a lovely breakfast. |
The rooms are really beautiful, with TV, tea & coffee, etc. We would highly recommend here & will be coming again. You can Email for details to Pauline at.....allerdalechef@aol.com |
Just one of the streets. There are plenty of B&B's everywhere, it's a shame that nearly all were empty. |
Keswick town centre. Quiet & deserted due to the Foot & Mouth disease. |
Bit chilly !!! but it's a beautiful place with lovely views. We'd like to go back in summer, but have been told that there are many tourists then, B&B's are full & the traffic on the roads are quite bad. So put your wooly hat on & sample the place off season. |
Little house, built as a bridge over a river. |
You must have a boat trip around Lake Windermere. |
Nichola (my daughter) & Nathan at their new home. They've both put in a lot of work in it, & I particilarly like Nic's choice of decorating & colours. I'm very proud of them both. |
