Have recently visited Morocco and thought i should share some images with all my friends here on VT. This is one of the water sellers in Djemaa el-Fna the Main square of Marrakech. |
| | Camel trekking in the Sahara This is a self portrait! Ok maybe not a portrait, but i'm actually on one of these camels and taking the picture at the same time! See if you can spot which one i'm on (Answers on a postcard to the usual address) |
Donkeys are everywhere in Morocco, especially the further you get away from the main city's. People in rural locations rely heavily on these beasts that carry loads a small truck would struggle with at times. | | |
| | Koutoubia Mosque Marrakech The main mosque in Marrakech at night is lit up to give off a fantastic photo opportunity for all tourists. I just wish I could have done it more justice. |
How those nice shoes are made! The Tannery in Fes has to be on anybody's must see list when visiting here. To this day they still work in the traditional way they have for hundreds of years creating the leather that goes into making all the fine goods you will see on sale in the souqs. You might need to cover your nose if you visit here as the smell of the cows urine, pigeon excrament and god knows what else they put into the mix can be a little overpowering! | | | Leather tanning in Fes, Morocco. |
|
| Morocco's finest mosque in Casablanca. |
| | Hassan II Mosque Casablanca Casablanca boasts the third largest religious monument in the whole world. The Hassan II Mosque is truly an ouststanding piece of modern architecture that has retained the basic principles of design. This Mosque was built only a few years back and can hold up to 25,000 people in the main prayer hall, with room for another 80,000 in the square outside. |
Leather work in Souqs Leather work can be found everywhere in the Souqs of Morocco. A rather nice line in slippers can be bought, although on a practical basis I don't know how handy these are, but they look the part and make a goog momento for anybody to bring home. | | | Slippers in Morocco market |
|
| | Djemaa el-Fna Marrakech Market Square Fast food Moroccon style. This picture taken in Djemma el-Fna, the main square of Marrakech medina.
it is possible to get yourself a very cheap and nourishing meal here in the square from around 5 p.m. until late at one of the many open air food stalls. |
