"Traditional dancing" Victoria Falls Travelogue by Alain_Smeets

I went to see the traditional dancing evening show. We paid our entrance fee and took a seat on the benches. First came a group playing on the drums and some girls who did some dance. But it looked like they didn’t had fun being there dancing for the tourists.
Then there came other groups with great costumes and they brought life in the show. A speaker explained the different dances and costumes. Every dance and costume has its function, his time and place.
Like the dance to go to war or to celebrate the victory in that war. Or a dance to say thank you for the good harvest of to celebrate the end of childhood and the becoming of a young man. We see several great shows. like a guy hanging on a rope at least 4 meter above the ground and doing a dance. I don’t know anymore what this meant, but it looks dangerous.
Then you have that warrior who holds an iron railway bar of 2 meter up with his teeth. Yes John Massis is still alive and he’s living in Zimbabwe. All the dances are performed by 4 different groups who all represent a different tribe.
It’s a fascinating evening in a nice surrounding. The light gives this imitation village a fairy surrounding.

That travelogue of the rafting is one of the most detailed I have ever read on VT.You certainly capture everything about the rafting experience, not sure about the bungy jump.
great pics!
Great page on the thundering Vic Falls!!! Fantastic pictures too!!! I saw them from the Zambian side only!!!
One of the best travelogues here on VT !!!
Wow, Alain, where you in that boat? Beautiful picture but a bit scary too. You have very fine pages, I wish I had more time to read thoroughly. Warm regards, RaHeNi
such a wonderful story!!!!! very exciting especially the intro pic, whoooooooaaa!!
What an exciting tale from the rafting at Vic Falls. We didn't get to do it while we were there, the water was too high - too dangerous! Shame.
I survived 2 Great Falls! This one will be my final if I make it there one day! Not into waterrafting but definitely flying! Hope to one day to fly a plane! It'll be my dream :-)))
Fantastic page & tips with superb travelogues Alain. Many thanks for passing on this with your passion & enthusiasm.
IMPRESSIVE! But no white water rafting for me ... I can hardly swim :(( Wonderful sunsets. I'll have to check my bank account and see if I can ever get there.
