Along the Oregon Coast
If you ever get the chance, take a few days (or a few weeks!) and drive down the magnificent coastline of Oregon and California. There are spectacular vistas at every turn.

For more photos, from my most recent trip, take a look here.
Seagull Parking Lot
These seagulls were strategically lined up on a pier in Newport, Oregon, one of the many great beach communities in the state.
The light coming through the branches of these weeping willows was just too good to pass up. I love the contrast of light & shadow through this photo.
Van Dusen Gardens, Vancouver, BC
Garfield Park Conservatory, Chicago, IL
There's a glass sculptor from Tacoma, Washington named Dale Chihuly who produces the most amazing blown glass pieces you can possibly imagine. He partnered up with the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago to artistically place his art throughout the facility.

I liked this photo so much I've made it the background on my laptop!
These circular towers are officially known as "Marina City", but most Chicagoans call them the "corn cobs".

They were designed by Bertrand Goldberg and built between 1959 - 1964. The first third of each building is devoted solely to parking. Thus even the lowest suite, which start on the 21st floor, has a view.

If you'd like to read more about these fascinating buildings then click here.

The Wrigley Building
The Wrigley Building truly captures the great beauty and elegance that is prominent in so many of the older skyscrapers of Chicago.

Besides its towering height, it has an overabundance of artwork built into its exterior.
One windy day I was walking up Michigan Avenue and saw the beautiful American flag fluttering in the wind. It took 3 attempts but I finally captured this great shot of the flag.

Berries at the Chicago Botanic Garden
North of Chicago is the enormous Botanic Garden. I love the contrast of the little red berries against the more subtle purple flowers.
