| | Suva is the capital of Fiji. It's on the West side of the island, 3 hours from the main airport in Nadi (pronounced Nandi) which is on the East Coast. Almost 1/2 the population is of Indian descent and the people are amazing friendly.
The roads can be dangerous to cross, especially for those not familiar with the flow there so do follow the street crossing signs when possible. |
This is the very tallest building in Fiji. All of 11 floors!:)
| | The city of Suva is working hard to get itself ready for the South Pacific Games that are coming up in October. Very big deal as you can see from this huge mural on the side of this bank building. |
This was in preparation of a special engagement dinner for my friend and her fiance. Check out the teeth on that thing! I think this is one of my favorite photo's from my trip. :)
They had their entire family over for a wonderful dinner that night. They'd also had a neighboring family help with the Lovo which is the tradition of digging a hole and preparing a fire and layering in food such as dalo (their super starchy equivalent to potato), chicken, pork, etc. wrapped in coconut leaves than buried and dug up when ready.
| | I liked this photo as you could see the incredible vegetation that surrounds the country and my friends house. :) |
