| Lost Lagoon, in Stanley Park |
This is one of the best photos I've ever taken. It's from the NW corner of Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, looking SE toward the 'West End', a highrise neighbourhood in downtown Vancouver.
If you only have one day in Vancouver then I'd suggest you come here. Stanley Park has a very special place in the heart of every Vancouverite. |
| | This is the famous art-deco Burrard Street Bridge that is one of 3 that connects the downtown core with the rest of the city.
This photo was taken from a mini-ferry dock that is directly across from Granville Island. |
This photo was taken from my 12th floor apartment at 14th & Burrard. It's facing directly north and shows the downtown area, Stanley Park, and the Northshore mountains.
Even though the "little city" I grew up in has become a big metropolis, I still think it has kept much of its stunning beauty.
| | One day back in the fall of 2001 this strange fog slowly crept into the city. At times it seemed like a secret plot of the kind that Austin Powers would have to defend us against!
In the foreground is part of the Kitsilano area around the Broadway & Arbutus area. |
I have an uncle who lives in neighbouring Richmond right beside the dyke that surrounds the community. This photo is taken from his back deck..
At various times of the year, especially the summer, summer spectacular sunsets can be seen by anyone walking on the dyke.
| Burrard Inlet, The West End |
| | Walking around the waterfront of Vancouver is a must for anyone visiting the city!
One particularly great route is to walk from Granville Island over to Kits Beach.
This picture was taken from the waterfront near the planetarium. |
This is further out toward the UBC Endowment lands. When the tide is way out, one can walk at least a kilometre out on the slightly wet sand. Great for adults, kids, and dogs alike! If you want to see a live webcam of this area then click here.
| | Here are 2 photos of the new Coal Harbour development, next to Stanley Park. The one on the left looks east toward the Convention Centre and Pan Pacific Hotel. The one on the right looks west toward Stanley Park.
My friend, Nobuko, is the lovely lady on the left pictured with a friend of hers whom I do not know. These photos were provided courtesy of Nobuko's husband, Tarek. |

Marisola Thu Jul 16, 2009 19:51 UTC I really enjoyed the political quiz you recommended. My scores were -5.0 and -0.92, similar to Mandela and the Dalai Lama! What does that mean?!? | zwildwolf Tue Jun 16, 2009 05:57 UTC Hey Rob, I'm going to be in Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympics and Balfor told write you and maybe get some good info. | VeronicaG Thu Oct 2, 2008 23:56 UTC Hey, Robert...it was nice to meet you and your Mom at the Ft.Worth vt meet.
