Now we went to the Cango caves. We took the standard tour and saw a lot of interesting places there. You feel small in those caves. You get a better feeling about these caves, especially when the guide tells about ancient times and the first tourism. The first tourist, I believe end 1800, did 6 hours over a trip that took us not even 10 minutes.
Now they put concrete in the caves to level the floors. It used to be just fallen rocks in a chaotic order. And then telling the tourist to keep their hands as much as possible off the rocks to avoid contaminating them and they put concrete in it, do a lot of blasting for tourism, go figure. But this is everywhere in the world the same.

In the Cango Caves they hold also concerts in the first hall. But they don’t do this anymore. The reason is that the people were walking around in those caves during the pause. And then they brook a lot of things, by touching them or taking them as a souvenir.
A cave makes you always small, you are in a different world, no sun, an other environment. The Cango caves are a warm cave. We didn’t have to wear a jacket. The formations are ranging from nice too impressive. But also a nice item is one thing that they do in each cave that I already visited is that they put out the lights.

And then it is dark, really dark. You can’t see an hand before your eyes. What was it difficult for the earlier explorers to explore such a cave with a small light or even a candle. Something to think about.
