The Strip -- Indoors

by soccergrrl - last update: Jun 4, 2003

Ah, the Romance of a godola ride in . . Las Vegas?
First, let me say I didn't take a single picture inside a casino. To be honest, we didn't spend a lot of time in any of them. And for some reason it just felt "wrong" to me. I can't explain it, but I was comfortable taking pictures everywhere but on the casino floors. At any rate, I think it would be hard to capture the unique look of each casino.

Here are a few of the interior shots I did take, though, just for flavor.
Inside the Venetian
Also inside the Venetian is this vaulted passageway. Everything there is done to perfection -- no wonder it was the most expensive hotel ever built at the time of its construction!
This is the lobby of the Luxor, in the base of the pyramid. The atrium there, which includes the casino (beyond this statuary), is one of the largest in the world.
Luxor Lobby
The Luxor is BIG
Here you begin to get a sense of the scale of things at the Luxor. This is on the "Attraction Level" above the casino; all the hallways outside of the pyramid rooms look over this area.
This is one of the lions inside the habitat at the MGM Grand. Be sure to go into the plexiglass-roofed tunnel and wait for one of the lions to "pounce" on you.
Nice Kitty Cat . . .
SmashMouth at Mandalay Bay
OK, this isn't technically "inside". But it is *inside* the Mandalay Bay property, at their "beach" (at the pool area, where they have a wave pool and lots of sand). They have this stage area that overlooks the wave pool -- there is water between the crowd you see here and the stage. And that's SmashMouth belting it out.

I loved the Valley of Fire, too! It was like being in an old Western movie.

I saw the lions on your page Dorothy, I bet Wayne would have been amazed when he saw them!
